As a chapter of Sigma Pi, we are privileged to be able to give back to our community. We do this through our Philanthropic causes and community service efforts.
This was shown recently when a few of our brothers went to help declare April "Donate Life Month" in Leominster. Our Philanthropy Chairman Devin Salviuolo contacted Matt Boger of the New England Medical Bank to coordinate a way for our chapter to help Donate Life spread awareness and register more people as organ donors. To raise awareness, our brothers met up with Matt and two ambassadors from Donate Life, Kim Sazama and Sheila Tines as well Mayor Dean Mazzarella in Leominster to help make the cause known. We got to hear Sheila and Kim's stories as people directly affected by organ donor ship as well as educate ourselves about the positive effect it can have.
On top of this, the Eta-Tau chapter will be bringing Donate Life to the Fitchburg State campus. While not everyone can get down to the RMV to register, Sigma Pi holds table hours to allow students to register to be organ donors right on campus.
Overall, it was a wonderful event, bringing attention to a worthy cause. We established an excellent relationship with Matt as well as inspired everyone involved to continue to progress and keep on the quest for excellence.
